Question:
What is UID and what is GID?

Answer:
UID stands for unique ID. When access card/tag/fob is shipped, the card is picked in random and therefore it is not in sequence.
3rd party card/tag/fob can be defined in using UID.

To solve this GeoVision has embedded GID in the card/tag/fob.

GID stands for GeoVision ID. This is the ID that GeoVision requested card/tag/fob manufacturer to add into the card in addition to UID. This is intended to solve the shipped card not in sequence. 3rd party readers are not able to read GID.

GeoVision readers by default are confiugred and shipped in UID mode.
