The main reason as responded by engineering is because standard Wiegand has voltage going through D0 and D1 in standard Wiegand connection, if the reader does not have voltage going throuhg the points, then controller will have problem detecting and communicating with the reader. To solve the problem, customer uses resistor to increase the voltage of the connection point given that the reader was already providing voltage but not enough.
