Q: Why FBR backup is not working after GV-Enterprise and SQL upgrade?

1. FBR Files Are Version-Dependent

Currently, GV-Enterprise FBR files cannot be used across different SQL Server versions or different GV-Enterprise versions.

If you need to back up and restore your system using an FBR file, please complete the GV-Enterprise upgrade in the original environment before creating the FBR backup. When restoring an FBR file, ensure that both the GV-Enterprise version and the SQL Server version are identical to those used when the FBR file was created.

How to Check the GV-Enterprise Version
You can verify the installed GV-Enterprise version by either:

Opening Installed Apps and locating GV-EnterpriseAIO,

or Opening GV-Enterprise and selecting Version Information.

How to Check the SQL Server Version
On the SQL Server computer, open Installed Apps and locate Microsoft SQL Server (64-bit) to confirm whether the installed version is SQL Server 2014 or SQL Server 2022.

2. When upgrading from GV-Enterprise V1.1 to GV-Enterprise V1.2, you do not need to upgrade SQL Server since SQL Server2014 can still be used and
upgrade just the GV-Enterprise software.

3. Do Not Install SQL Server 2022 During the Upgrade Unless Required:

During the GV-Enterprise V1.2 installation process, you may select the option to install SQL Server.

However, our software will display a message showing that SQL Server 2014 already exists on the system if the installer detects that SQL Server 2014 is already installed.

Please then click Cancel to skip the SQL Server installation and continue with the GV-Enterprise installation.

Important notice:
Installing and switching to SQL Server 2022 during the upgrade will result in the existing GV-Enterprise configuration being cleared.

Therefore, unless you are performing a planned SQL Server migration, it is recommended to keep the existing SQL Server 2014 installation when upgrading from GV-Enterprise V1.1 to V1.2.
