Applied to
GV-IP Cameras
Introduction
To utilize the batch IP address, password, and firmware upgrade functions using GV-IP Device Utility, GV-IP cameras are required to be on the same network segment with the setup PC without IP conflicts. See the document below for camera specifications and the instructions for solving IP conflicts and aligning cameras and setup PC network segments.
GV-IP cameras specification table
See the corresponding solutions for specified cameras indicated in the table. Note:
- The batch firmware upgrade function is only applicable to the same GV-IP camera model.
- To ensure a successful batch IP setup, make sure to update the IP, subnet mask, and default gateway. For details, see Step 3 in Solution 1 below.
The Auto Set IP Address function on GV-IP Device Utility helps solve the IP conflicts and align network segments. Follow the steps below:
Looking up PC network card details
1. To look up the PC network card details, run the Command Prompt application on your PC. 2. Type ipconfig, and the network card details will be displayed below. Enabling Auto set IP and aligning network segments
3. On the main page of GV-IP Device Utility, click the Auto Set IP Address icon. Align the camera IP segment, Subnet Mask, and Default Gateway with the setup PC based on the results acquired at Step 2, and click Configure. IP addresses will be automatically allocated to the cameras within the same segments with the network card.
Solution 2: Connecting cameras to a router with DHCP server
GV-IP cameras installed in a LAN without a DHCP server will preserve their default IP address. Due to IP conflicts, some cameras that use the same default IP address do not support batch IP and password settings and firmware upgrade using GV-IP Device Utility. In this case, connect the cameras to a router with DHCP capability, and the cameras will automatically be allocated with separate IP addresses. Note that GV-IP cameras and the setup PC should be on the same network segment.
Batch password setting
To batch create or change camera passwords using GV-IP Device Utility, see 3. Creating GV-IP Device’s Login Credentials and 5. Advanced Settings in GV-IP Device Utility Guide.
Batch firmware upgrade
For firmware upgrade, click the Upgrade all devices on the Firmware Upgrade tab of GV-IP Device Utility. See 4.3 Manual Update in GV-IP Device Utility Guide.
