Unread post by joycechang »

Article ID: GV0-27-07-23
Release Date: July 27, 2023

Applied to
All GeoVision software
Windows 8 or later versions

Symptoms

[GeoVision Software]
On certain monitors, GeoVision software users may observe a decrease in image quality, with images appearing blurry, pixelated, and fuzzy.

[GV-Control Center]
You might run into two issues when using GV-Control Center multi-monitor application:
1. In the Application Position window, the monitor size is displayed incorrectly. As shown in the picture below, the top-left monitor has been reduced in size.
2. The image quality reduces on the incorrectly-sized monitor, with images appearing blurry, pixelated, and fuzzy.

Cause

[GeoVision Software]
When Windows detects a large monitor size, such as 40” or 46” TV, connected to a computer running GeoVision software, it auto-adjusts the display scaling to over 100% to prevent small windows and text. The over 100% scaling reduces image quality because the video resolution remains unchanged while the images are magnified.

[GV-Control Center]
GV-Control Center retrieves its display settings from the Windows display settings. As a result, when the Windows display settings are changed manually or automatically, the monitor size displayed in the Application Position and image quality will be affected.

In the example below, because monitor 6 is a 40” TV, Windows auto-adjusts the display scaling to 150% to prevent small windows and text, whereas the scaling on the other monitors is set to 100%. The 150% scaling not only causes the monitor size to be incorrectly displayed in the Application Position window, but also reduces image quality because the video resolution remains unchanged while the images are magnified.

Note: The monitor numbers in the Application Position window may vary from the Windows display settings due to technical issues in Windows. See the feedback of Windows specialized experts: https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forum ... mentissues.

3. Click Apply to save the setting and restart the system.
  • A. For GeoVision Software, restart the computer.
    B. For GV-Control Center, restart GV-Control Center software.

For GV-Control Center users, ensure to complete the following settings:
4. Open the Application Position window. In this example, the incorrectly-sized monitor is enlarged to be the same as other monitors.
5. Click the Live View in the resized monitor and select Full Screen to apply the Live View layout to the entire screen.
