Applied to
GV-VMS V17.4.5

Introduction
If you are using Software Motion Detection in GV-VMS, you will need to know the GV-VMS V17.4.5.5 patch, which is prepared for machine-learning-based software motion detection, as well as some recording tips.

As we all know, machine-learning video analytics has limitations in terms of motion sensitivity, accuracy, and false alarm elimination. Thus, we have integrated artificial intelligence (AI) and deep-learning video analytics in GV-VMS V18.3.0 or later.

However, we do offer solutions to optimize the machine-learning-based software motion detection for GV-VMS V17 users. The GV-VMS V17.4.5.5 patch can be downloaded from: https://dlcdn.geovision.com.tw/Software ... .4.5.5.zip

Note: The camera’s built-in motion detection is enabled by default in GV-VMS V17.4 or later. If the Enable Camera’s Built-in Motion Detection option in the Advanced Motion Detection Setup is selected, the camera’s motion detection is used; otherwise, GV-VMS software motion detection is used. See 1.3.4 Setting up Motion Detection in the user's manual.

Recording Tips
The followings are some tips to ensure that important events are recorded and saved.

1. Enable Pre and Post Recording to Urgent Events
To have complete event clips, we recommend enabling pre and post recordings, which will cause the camera to begin recording before an event occurs and continue recording after it ends. For the settings, see 1.3.1 Setting up Global Recordings for All Cameras in the user's manual.

2. Enable Never Recycle to Important Events
You can enable Never Recycle for any events that are important to you. Right-click on the timeline of the ViewLog player and enable Never Recycle for any videos you consider important. See 4.1.2 ViewLog Control Panel in the user's manual.
