[ ASManager ] Migrate ASManager MDB to MSSQL - 20210126

Question:
How to migrate ASManager MDB to MSSQL?

Answer:
Below steps can help you migrate your current access control, ASManager Database from the MDB to the MSSQL Server.
To do so, please follow the steps below:

a. Disconnect PC Ethernet network first, this can keep the controller(SDCard inserted) records at each of controller hardware(PC-LPR will stop working).
b. Close the ASManager Main UI and run the ASMiniService.exe which is located at the installed folder(default: C:\Access Control\ASManager)
c. Backup the current MDB files via the ASDBManager
* You can keep the second copy for ASRes folder in case you don’t lost your data.

d. change the database type for ASManager from Access to SQL
and then input the credential of the SQL Server for access the database
* Notice: the test buttons are confirmation, no data checking.
* Notice2: you can consider to enable the [Expand Data Size] option in order to unblock the record limits for your SQL Server

e. once you done the SQL Connection, then you select the [Recovery] to restore from the MDB database

f. after take a while to finish it and close the ASDBManager, you can restart the ASManager Main UI to use the ASManager with SQL Server DB usage.

For your usage of the MSSQL server, you can refer the below information about how to use it for the database service
You can use the Microsoft SQL Server to make sure the database is no longer failed or unauthorized edit(login required).
