Symptom
The face recognition malfunctions on GV-VD8700 and GV-FD8700-FR, with the enrolled face data not detected and displayed on the Management page, and the Events search page not responding.
Solution
The issue occurs because the storage threshold of 750 MB, in the camera, for the database of face profiles has exceeded. To identify and solve the problem, examine the size of the database and compress the large database by following the steps below.
Examine the size of the database
- Export face database from the camera’s Web interface (Events and Alerts > Face Recognition).
- Unzip the exported file and find the size of export_user.realm to see whether the limit of 750 MB has been exceeded.
Compress the database using Scale Tool
- Make sure you back up the database before you compress it, which can be achieved by using the Web interface (Events and Alerts > Face Recognition > Export Face Database) or GV-Face Manager (Settings > Export Backup Data From…).
- Download and unzip Scale Tool
- In the Scale Tool folder, open CamInfo.ini, type IP, login ID and Password of the camera and save the file.
- Run ScaleDB.exe and click Start Scale. When the process is complete, the Event Log window with successful messages appears.
