Summary
With Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) call support by SIP, GV-CR1320 / GV-CS1320 is able to place and receive calls to and from an IP phone or a PC through a SIP server.

To test the SIP function of GV-CR1320 / CS1320 with a PC, installed with a SIP Softphone, follow the steps below:
  • Step 1: Set up a SIP Server
    To set up a SIP server, see 1. Setting up SIP Server.
  • Step 2: Set up the PC as a SIP Phone
    To set the PC as a SIP Phone, see 2. Installing and Configuring SIP Softphone.
  • Step 3: Configure GV-CR1320 / CS1320
    To configure the SIP function of GV-CR1320 / CS1320, see 3. Configuring GV-CR1320 / CS1320.
Procedures
Note that the following procedures are demonstrated using 2 free SIP software: miniSIPServer, a SIP Server program, and MicroSIP, a SIP Softphone

1. Setting up SIP Server
  1. Install and run a SIP Server program, such as miniSIPServer, on your PC.

  2. On the SIP Server program, set up at least two SIP User Accounts, each with a valid account name and password.

    • SIP User A, 101 in this example, will be assigned to your PC, see 2. Installing and Configuring SIP Softphone
    • SIP User B, 102 in this example, will be assigned to the GV-CR1320 / CS1320, see 3. Configuring GV-CR1320 / CS1320.
2. Installing and Configuring SIP Softphone

Note: For convenient testing, it is recommended to install the SIP Server and SIP Softphone programs on the same PC. Users can also choose to install them on two separate PCs within the same LAN.
  1. Install and run a SIP Softphone program, such as MicroSIP, on your PC.
  2. In its account settings (Settings > Edit Account on MicroSIP), type the IP Address of the SIP Server and type the account Username and Password of SIP User A (see Step 2, 1. Setting up SIP Server).

Once the settings are saved and applied, the SIP Softphone on your PC is recognized by the SIP Server as SIP User A, 101 in this example.

3. Configuring GV-CR1320 / CS1320
  1. On the Web interface of GV-CR1320 / CS1320, click SIP > SIP Setting. The SIP Setting page appears.
  2. Enable the SIP function. Then under SIP Server Setting, type the IP Address and Server Port of the SIP Server and type the account Username and Password of SIP User B (see Step 2, 1. Setting up SIP Server).
  3. Under SIP Outgoing Call Setting, type the SIP Extension number of the PC (SIP User A) in Primary Outgoing Call SIP Name.

  4. Click Apply. The GV-CR1320 / CS1320 is recognized by the SIP Server as SIP User B, 102 in this example.
Note: Make sure the value and type of SIP Server Port match those of the SIP Server used.
