Article ID: GV5-19-05-21-Ch
Released Date: 05/21/2019

Applied to
GV-SNVR0412 / 0812

Summary
Unlike other GV-SNVR systems, the 4 / 8 PoE ports on GV-SNVR0412 / 0812, used to connect IP cameras, are structured as an independently isolated LAN with DHCP and is not bridged with the WAN connection used to link the GV-SNVR0412 / 0812 to your network.
As a result, IP cameras connected to any of GV-SNVR0412 / 0812’s 8 PoE ports are inaccessible by any platform other than the GV-SNVR0412 / 0812.

IMPORTANT: Only connect GV-SNVR0412 / 0812 to the Internet through its WAN Port, as opposed to any of the 4 / 8 PoE ports, as they are only for connecting to IP devices and have limited network connection.

Figure: Cameras connected to GV-SNVR0412 / 0812’s PoE ports are undetectable by GV-IP Device Utility.

Note for Connecting IP Cameras
Please be reminded of the following when connecting IP cameras to GV-SNVR0412 / 0812’s PoE ports:
  • The IP camera must be DHCP-enabled
  • Must connect the IP camera to your network independently when changing certain advanced camera settings, which differ from model to model, that are otherwise inconfigurable through GV-SNVR0412 / 0812
