[Technical Notice] Abnormal Data Traffic with the UPNP Function on GV-IP Devices

Symptom
When the UPnP function is enabled on specific GeoVision products in the network environments listed below over a period of time, it may cause excessive packet transmission and result in unnecessary network traffic. As a result, users may experience unstable camera connection over the network.
  • Of over 16 GV-Target IP cameras
  • Of over 20 GV-Target IP cameras, non GV-Target IP cameras, Video Servers, LPR cameras and GV-CS1320
  • Of over 60 non GV-Target IP cameras, Video Servers, LPR cameras and GV-CS1320
If your situation falls under the three types of network environments mentioned above, you may have problems accessing live view over the network. It is expected that the symptoms will arise on one of these dates:
  • May 13, 2017
  • July 1, 2017
  • August 20, 2017
  • October 9, 2017
  • November 28, 2017
IMPORTANT: GV-Target IP Cameras include GV-EFD1100 / 2100 Series / 2101 / 3101 / 5101, GV-EBL1100 Series / 2100 Series, GV-EVD2100 / 3100 / 5100, GV-EDR1100 Series / 2100 Series, and GV-EBX1100 Series / 2100 Series. Other GV-IP cameras include GV-EBL2101 but exclude the above 14 models.

Solution
To fix this issue, you can download and install the latest firmware from our website for the affected models.
