[Technical Notice] Problem to Access Live Images of GV-Recording Server/GV-Video Gateway Using Multi View

Symptom
When you used the Multi View program to remotely connect to the GV-Recording Server or GV-Video Gateway, some video channels could not be accessed and a “Connect to Server” message was displayed.

Workaround
The problem occurred because there is a compatibility issue between the Multi View program and the GV-Recording Server/GV-Video Gateway. Please use one of the following alternatives to access the live images of GV-Recording Server/GV-Video Gateway from a remote site.
  1. Using the Preview/Multi Windows function on the Web interface
  2. Using the Live View function on the Web interface
  3. Using the Multicast function on the Web interface
  4. Using the free surveillance software GV-NVR
Note: The GV-Recording Server/GV-Video Gateway supports the web-based user interface, so you can access the server from a remote computer using a web browser.

1. Using the Preview/Multi Windows function on the Web interface
This method is only available for Administrator of GV-Recorder Server/GV-Video Gateway.
  1. To access the Web interface from a remote computer, start the Internet browser, and type the IP address or the domain name of the GV-Recording Server/GV-Video Gateway in the Location/Address field.
  2. Type the Administrator’s ID and password to log in the Web interface.
  3. You can find the two viewing functions on the main page.

  4. To view a single channel, select a connected camera and click the Preview button.

  5. To view multiple channels, click the Multi Windows button. To specify the number of channels per page, click the 2x2, 4x4 or 6x6 button. Or use the left and right arrows to see other pages.

2. Using the Live View function on the Web interface
  1. To access the Web interface from a remote computer, start the Internet browser, and type the IP address or the domain name of the GV-Recording Server/GV-Video Gateway in the Location/Address field.
  2. Type the user’s ID and password to log in the Web interface.
  3. You can find the Live View functions on the left menu.

  4. To view a single channel, select One Channel on the left menu, and select a desired camera from the Working Camera List drop-down list.
  5. To view multiple channels, select Multi Windows on the left menu. You can select and query up to 16 cameras.

Note: Only Internet Explorer browser is supported for multi-channel live view.

3. Using the Multicast function on the Web interface
The Multicast allows you to receive video streams from a multicast group. The Multicast program is available in the GV-Recording Server/GV-Video Gateway software DVD.

Note:Using Multicast, you can only connect to GV-Recording Server/GV-Video Gateway under LAN.
  1. The Administrator needs to grant the remote access in advance.
    1. On the left menu of the Web interface, select Server and then Video Gateway.
    2. Enable Multicast, and complete the following settings.
      • Update Period: Specify the time length in second between each update of multicast streams.
      • IP Address: Type the IP address used for multicasting. Only the hosts with the same multicast IP can receive the multicast streams. The default IP address is 224.1.1.2.
      • Port: Type the port number used for multicasting. The default port number is 8300.
      • Password: Select this option and type a password to secure multicast streams. Users will need to enter the password before accessing the video streams.

  2. On a remote computer, install and run Multicast from the Software DVD. A window similar to the following figure appears.

  3. The GV-Recording Server/GV-Video Gateway in the multicast group is displayed automatically on the host list. If you cannot see any host displayed, click the Configure button, select General Setup, select Multicast and ensure the relevant IP address, port number and network card are correctly configured.
  4. Expand the Host folder and drag the desired cameras to the screen for display. If the GV-Recording Server/GV-Video Gateway has already been set a password, you will be promoted to enter the password at this step.
  5. To save the current settings of screen division and camera display for future use, click the Configure button, select Video List Setup, and select Export. You can also select Import to apply the pre-defined settings.

4. Using the free surveillance software GV-NVR
You can download and install GV-NVR from our website. The GV-NVR allows you to connect up to 32 GV IP channels for live surveillance.
