Article ID: GV1-11-9-30-y
Released Date: 9/30/2011-revised
Applied to
GV-Recording Server
Description of Change
From now on the GV-Recording Server will only be shipped with the internal-type USB dongle in order to build hardware watchdog function on the Server. It is required for users to insert the internal-type USB dongle to the USB header on the motherboard.
Reason for Change
The internal type of USB dongle can provide the Hardware Watchdog function to the GV-Recording Server by restarting the computer when Windows crashes. With the internal-type USB dongle installed, the continuous recording and operation of GV-Recording Server can be ensured.
An example of GV-Internal USB Dongle:
How to install the internal-type USB dongle
- Turn off the computer, and open the case.
- Connect the GV-Internal USB Dongle to the USB headers on the motherboard.
- Remove the wire of the computer’s reset switch from the motherboard, and connect it to the GV-Internal USB Dongle. Use the supplied Jumper Wire to connect the pins on the GV-Internal USB Dongle and the reset pins on the motherboard.
- For some motherboards, the internal USB headers are integrated with an extra connector, making it unfit for the GV-Internal USB Dongle to plug in. In this case, it is required to use a connector supplied with the motherboard to connect the GV-Internal USB Dongle to the motherboard. Note: Ensure not to remove the GV-Internal USB Dongle when the computer is powered on; otherwise it would cause the computer to restart or the GV-Internal USB Dongle to be damaged.
To automatically start recording and video transmitting at Windows startup
By default, when Windows starts up, the recording and video transmitting functions will also be started automatically. To ensure continuous operation of recording and video transmitting, make sure not to disable the following two settings.
