[Technical Notice] User Account in Windows Errors when Saving Data Files

Symptom
While logging in Windows with a user account, some users may not be able to open a database folder for GV Applications and/or an error message may appear when specifying a location to store data.

Case 1: When specifying a location to store data, a Location is not available error message appears.

Case 2: Some users cannot assign the GV Application’s Database folder.

Users that can not assign the database folder can not select a path for data files.

Solution
When an error message appears while specifying a location to store data, select OK and assign a path to save data files. To open database folders, stop the program GeoStartupAgent.exe in Service Mode.

Solution for Case 1: When specifying a location to store data, a Location is not available error message appears. Select OK and assign a path to save data files.

Solution for Case 2: In order to open database folders, stop the program GeoStartupAgent.exe in Service Mode by following the steps below:
  1. Log in Windows using the Administrator account
  2. Open Control Panel and select Administrator Tools. Open Services.

  3. Right-click GeoStartupAgent and select Properties.

  4. In Startup type, select Disable. Select Stop under Service status.

  5. Select OK to exit the window.

  6. Restart the Windows system. Log in using a user account to open the GV Application’s Database folder.
