Q. What are the quality values in IP camera setting?

A. First we shall try to understand what is the definition of quantization parameter (QP)
that has been defined within the H.264 codec specification. The QP has a total of 52
values, ranging from 0 to 51.

For QP at 0, it would means that the codec is using the most detailed quantization for
Image Quantization(When the QP value is small(i.e.QP = 0), Video Quality is relatively more clear,
thus bit rate is relatively high). Vice Versa, when QP = 51, it means that it is using a relatively
roughquantization algorithm to process the image, thus at QP =51 the video quality is relatively
inferior and bit rate is relatively low.

Now for Geovision products, we have define the categories on Image Quality against the QP.
So for GV-IPCAM QP standard would roughly be listed as follow:
2017-10-30_14h25_10.jpg
2017-10-30_14h25_10.jpg (10.14 KiB) Viewed 3245 times
That’s basically underlined principal of Geovision Video Quality standard based from.
