[ LPR ] How colors and coating affect the recognition - 20170628

Unread post by Frank »

Question:
Are there official specs on what colors of license plate letters/numbers that the LPC1100 and LPC2210 can detect?
---> Sorry, there is no such official document.

The reason is, color is not the only factor to affect the recognition result. It also depends on the reflective ratio of the coating material. Even the color is same, it can have different result due to the different reflective ratio of coating material.

For the "B/W" recognition camera, such as LPC1100, are not recommended to work on red and green license plate characters. Even blue characters can fail to be recognized.

Even though for LPC2210, "color" recognition camera, may encounter the same issue as LPC1100 in night mode due to the IR. However, all the colors are acceptable in day mode.
