[Technical Notice] Solution to the Software Abnormality Resulted from Incompatible GPU

Two issues of software abnormality precipitated by incompatible GPU and their solution are adumbrated in this technical notice.

Symptom One
When the graphics driver of the 2nd Generation Intel Core i3 / i5 / i7 Desktop Processor (Sandy Bridge) is automatically upgraded to version 9.17.10.4459, 05/19/2016 through a Windows update package, performing GPU decoding will cause unsmooth live images and increase CPU loading on the computer. To resolve this symptom, follow Solution to Symptom One.

Note: The current version of 2nd Generation Intel Core i3 / i5 / i7 Desktop Processor (Sandy Bridge) on Intel’s website is version 9.17.10.4229, 05/26/2015.

Symptom Two
When performing H.264 or H.265 GPU decoding, the live view of the above-mentioned GeoVision software will freeze or fail to display. To resolve this symptom, follow Solution to Symptom Two.

Solution to Symptom One
To resolve Symptom One, download and install version 9.17.10.4229, 05/26/2015 of the Intel Sandy Bridge Graphics Driver, follow the steps below.

1. Click on one of the links below to download version 9.17.10.4229, 05/26/2015.
  • For 32-bit Operating System

2. Execute the downloaded .exe program. Before starting installation, make sure the Driver Version and Release Date on the Installer are displayed as below.

3. Restart your PC. Your graphics driver version should appear as version 9.17.10.4229, 05/26/2015.

Solution to Symptom Two
To resolve Symptom Two, download and apply the video codec below.
1. Close all GV-Software.
2. Download and unzip the following GeoVision video codec:
  • GV-Video Codec V18.2.1.1
http://54.200.75.24/english/EncodeUrl3. ... ec-VMS.zip
3. Double-click the GeoCodecReg.exe program to begin installation.
4. Once the installation is completed, restart your GV-Software.
5. If the symptom persists, install a supported CPU as listed on GeoVision’s GPU Decoding Specifications.
